Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation

TREC was awarded $3,000 from the Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation in 2011 for the construction of Phase III of the project. The funds received will be used toward the 20 percent match for the project, meaning the granted funds will allow TREC to access $4 of the ITEP grant for every $1 of match.

Illinois Department of Transportation

TREC was awarded $1,171,560 from the IDOT Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP) federal program. The grant allows for up to 80 percent reimbursement for eligible costs. Anticipated funds will be used for the construction of Phase III.

Effingham Community Foundation

TREC was awarded $4,100 from the Effingham County Community Foundation in 2008 for the development of fundraising materials for the campaign for the first phase of the trail.

Illinois Department of Natural Resources

Recreation Trails Program

TREC was awarded $410,000 from the IDNR Recreation Trails Program. Funds received were used to construct the first phase of the trail.

Planning Purposes

TREC was awarded $20,000 from IDNR for planning purposes. TREC partnered with the Effingham County Board in 2005 to complete a master plan for a recreation trail system in Effingham County.
